Graffiti
If one were to walk down the street in their neighborhood, in the city, suburbs or country, one would probably encounter some type of graffiti. We have all seen it. It has become popular with many people today. Everyone from gang members wanting to write their gang logo, to artists, to people who just might want to write their name on a wall, letting everyone who walks by somehow know that they exist, all of these are different forms of graffiti. Some people like just about all types of graffiti. Most of us are more particular.
Most people don't like gang member logos or people's gang or street names spray painted on practically any type of surface. A brand new city bus for instance would be appreciated by most people who live in the city. It would be nice, new and clean. A joy to ride. Others see the brand new bus as another opportunity for their graffiti. Maybe an underpass could be freshly painted, hiding all of the unsightly graffiti that gets sprayed on the walls over the years, only to be resprayed with more unsightly graffiti. This negative type of graffiti is just not enjoyed at all by most people in the neighborhood. Considering that so many, mostly young people, are attracted to this activity, maybe some creative ways to deal with this problem could be considered so that graffiti sprayers can spray paint legally!
If an officer observes someone spraying graffiti, they could be arrested for a crime. Considering that most of these people are young people they might need a little guidance in life, not further punishment. This is where a supervised, spray painted, graffiti mural could come into play. Instead of punishing these young people, they could be encouraged to work together, making a scenic graffiti mural, doing something positive for themselves and the neighborhood. It might give the young person some improved self esteem and help to beautify the neighborhood.
